State of research on the problem of the readiness of a psychologist to the corrective and restoration work with the victims of the consequences of war

Abstract

The problem of a psychologist’s readiness for corrective and restorative work with war victims is becoming more and more urgent in Ukraine and the world. The number of injured people as a result of the war is constantly increasing.
The purpose of this study is to study the theoretical foundations of the problem of the readiness of psychologists for correctional and restorative work, to study the essence of such concepts as: «readiness», «psychological readiness», «corrective and restorative work». The tasks of the research are the analysis of existing approaches to determining the essence of readiness for professional activity, the generalization of researchers’ efforts to understand the concept of a psychologist’s readiness for correctional and restorative work. The article examines the essence of the concept of «readiness» as a multifaceted construct, which includes aspects of personality qualities (motivation, volitional and emotional characteristics), aspects of psychological state, aspects of orientation to action. The relationship between readiness and performance has been established. Approaches to the content of the concept of «readiness for professional activity» are considered, the specifics of readiness for the professional activity of a psychologist are outlined. The author’s vision of the essence of the concept of «readiness to perform professional activity» is offered. The readiness for the professional activities of a psychologist in the context of correctional and restorative work is characterized as such, where the component of the psychologist’s focus on work plays a key role. Attention is drawn to the methods that can be used in the process of corrective and restorative work. The features of correctional and restorative work with people affected by the war are considered.
It was noted that the specifics of correctional and restorative work with war victims require a specialized approach. Different levels of tasks of corrective and restorative work are outlined: corrective (correction of deviations), proactive (prevention of deviations) and developmental (stimulation of development and enrichment of the meaning of life). It is noted that directed corrective and restorative work may include therapy, counseling, psychological training and other methods aimed at restoring mental health and improving the quality of life. Approaches to determining the effectiveness of corrective and restoration work were analyzed, parameters for measuring such effectiveness were established: client satisfaction, positive changes in correction subjects.
